Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Jillybean. Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out anytime.
- What is Jillybean?
- Jillybean is an early-access Medical Passport that helps you organize patient-entered health information and create a temporary read-only clinical share. It does not replace a provider's medical record.
- Is my data safe?
- Jillybean uses secure transport, managed storage, device-protected sessions, and encrypted temporary clinical-share payloads. During early access, account-backed passport records are stored in Jillybean's managed service and are not a zero-knowledge or end-to-end encrypted vault.
- How does sharing work?
- When you arrive at a doctor's office, tap Share. A QR code appears on your phone. The nurse scans it and gets temporary access to your medical passport in a clean, read-only clinical view. After 3 minutes, the link expires automatically.
- Can the doctor keep my data after the link expires?
- After the link expires or you revoke it, the clinic cannot open it again through Jillybean. They may still keep information they already viewed, copied, photographed, printed, saved, or received by email.
- Do I need internet to use Jillybean?
- The early Android test app needs a connection for account-backed records and QR sharing. Offline local access is part of the encrypted-record storage milestone before broad release.
- Is this a replacement for my doctor's medical records?
- No. Jillybean is not an EHR (Electronic Health Record) and doesn't replace your provider's records. It's a portable summary you own and carry with you to make every visit smoother.
- What if I lose my phone?
- You will be able to restore your account on a new phone after proving it is really you. We will make this recovery process simple before launch.
- Does Jillybean use AI?
- Not in the current early-access patient workflow. Any future AI feature would require a separate review and explicit consent before health information is processed.
- How much does it cost?
- Jillybean is free for patients. We believe access to your own medical information shouldn't cost money. We'll announce our sustainability model before launch.
- When does it launch?
- The Android app is in a controlled, synthetic-data testing phase while we work toward Google Play distribution. Email [email protected] to request an invitation. Do not enter real health information unless Jillybean explicitly confirms that the pilot scope has changed.
